How to Do Disney World on a Budget

We all know when it comes to Disney World we think of a big expensive trip. It also looks like the prices keep going up and up! You can still do this on a budget!

Everyone has different plans in mind that will look a little different to everyone depending on where you will be traveling from and how long you decide to stay. There are some situations you can't control but there are some that you can! I did all my research before going and found the best way for our family to visit and still have the best time ever.

Transporation:

I decided to not spend over our budget, and we ended up sticking with it to save money for more destination vacations in the future. First, before I get to the park, we discussed how we would get to Disney and our first decision was to fly. Yes, I know, that's expensive, especially for a family of five. Well, our kids really wanted to fly but they were not the ones paying for the trip, and so we decided to drive with it being around fifteen hours. That alone saved us $1100 dollars being we had a larger family. So, because we didn't live extremely far away, we took the drive like we did years prior. If you still decide to fly or need to because you live far away and a drive is just to far than there are ways to save on flights and auto rentals.

Accommodations:

Depending if you're planning on staying in a hotel during your vacation, you can stay on a off Disney World property. Most off-property hotels can be less expensive than staying on property. Being we decided to drive we had our car to get around already. Upon my research I found it was so much cheaper to stay off property and so I found a hotel accommodation for our family. My goals where to find a clean and well-maintained property that we could also cook some meals at and that alone saves you so much money for your budget. (Let's not forget the food I cooked before I left home for the kids in the car, that saved a lot as well, we stopped a few times but had a cooler full for all the kids).

I got just what I asked for when I booked a place that comes with a kitchen and an area to do your laundry during your vacation and that means a lot. For larger families there are also Airbnb's you can spend time together in as a family or group. If you are looking for a budget friendly resort I recommend the Disney's All-Star Resorts, they are usually the cheapest option for families looking to stay on Disney property. (Keep in mind these do not offer kitchens for cooking

like the others).

With Booking you can save by searching exactly what you want in your stay for your group and save on multiple destinations in the future as well if you like to travel or simply take trips with your family or friends.

Park Tickets:

Disney World Park tickets can vary in price.

depending on when you choose to visit. Each date has a specific ticket price. If you're determined to visit during the cheapest times of the year, you can look up the prices and how they vary by the dates. If you sticking to your budget, I recommend skipping the Park Hopper ticket option and doing the standard ticket. Trust me you can barely do all there is to do in one day let alone two parks. This will save you a lot.

Dining:

Food, everyone has to eat. When you're going for the cheapest vacation, you probably don't want to book table service meals. These have to be booked in advance and the cost is on the high end. I almost booked one breakfast with Stitch, but I decided not to and that was due to the cost which I could have fed my family for a week on the price of it for a group of five. I had a feeling like before and after reading my youngest daughter would be able to see Stitch, her favorite Disney character in the park and get pictures, and she did exactly that and I didn't have to pay nothing else for it, I just had to know and find out when he would be in the area. We were all happier with the outcome. Upon my research I found out that you could pack lunches and snacks for Disney Parks. We did just that and our food was so delicious, and that alone saves so much. Prior to visiting I researched so many recipes that Disney offers and decided to get the ingredients to make my kids some of the stuff right at the hotel. When you have a large corporation cooking for so many people they can only do so much, so trust me mom's food is so much better. I will say we did allow ourselves to a Dole-Whip Pineapple ice-cream and a few other snacks. So, I suggest you bring your own meals and snacks with you to save money. I got so many ideas online to pack as well. I will say we ordered our groceries on the road trip a few hours before arriving and picked them up at the Orlando Walmart. That also saves you time and money. I recommend that you do not waste your money on those overpriced pre-packaged snacks when you can get them way cheaper at the grocery store and take them with you!

Other Costs:

After discussing some of the main cost of your trip and Disney World there are also other costs to consider. For example, your little ones will want everything they see as like my youngest daughter did. She loves every Disney Stitch she sees. We went to Walmart later on into our trip and they had aisles for Disney merchandise. Before I left, I purchased my daughters accessories on amazon along with our t-shirts. Some of the same merchandise that Disney parks carry. We purchased her another, yes yet another Stitch and a keychain and she was happy. When we were in the parks, the Disney Store had the same stitch for over 60% more in cost. That alone saves you money. I am not saying you can find everything at Walmart in Orlando, but a majority of it you can. Try your best to turn your eyes away from the cute stuff in all the stores and remember why you're at the park in the first place and that is to spend time with your family and have fun! All your dreams can come true at Disney if you peruse them within your means.
