Reflecting on my son’s journey back to health fills me with immense gratitude and hope. It's hard to capture the whirlwind of emotions we experienced—anxiety, despair, and, ultimately, joy. Our lives changed overnight when my son was diagnosed with cancer, prompting us to rethink everything we knew about health and faith. In those darkest moments, we discovered the incredible power of prayer. Against all odds, my son became cancer-free. This is our heartfelt story.
The Diagnosis: A Heart-Wrenching Moment
It was an ordinary day that shifted our reality completely. "Your son has cancer," the doctor said, and his words hit us like a tidal wave. Time stood still. Our family was faced with the unthinkable: a 21-year-old at the time who had always been vibrant and full of life now confronting a severe illness.
The emotional turmoil was overwhelming—fear and disbelief replaced our hopeful routine. In the weeks that followed, we navigated countless doctor's appointments, tests, and treatment options, often left with more questions than answers.
However, amidst the heartbreak, the support from family and friends emerged as a powerful light. We were comforted by their kindness, experiencing something akin to a lifeline during our darkest hours.
Harnessing the Power of Prayer
As soon as I left the hospital after the gut retching diagnosis of a volleyball sized tumor, I called my aunt who is always in touch with Pastor Zant who is also a retired neurosurgeon. He once prayed with me after a cancer diagnosis and then my diagnosis went on to be a scan of resemblance nothing more. I knew I had to call on Rev. Zant, because the connection that this man had with God. The following day Rev. Zant came to visit Kyle. We gained a message, we prayed, and Kyle was anointed. Kyle will still tell you today he is a true believer and has faith, and after we prayed Kyle says he felt as if the Holy Spirt went through his body and he had never felt or experienced that feeling before. His attitude completely changed, and he said what he felt was unexplainable. Upon prayer Rev. Zant told God to encase and to shield the tumor, and to grace Kyle with the Armour of God in faith. In our struggle, prayer became our sanctuary. Each night, we gathered, praying for my son's health pleading with God to save him. I prayed alone and Kyle and I prayed together while all friends and family continued in prayer amongst themselves. The act of prayer transformed from a simple gesture into a vital source of strength.
To amplify our prayers, we asked for prayer warriors to come along on this journey with Kyle. We invited friends, family, and even acquaintances to join our prayer chain, which expanded beyond our local community with the help of family and friends.
As the days turned into weeks, our family found comfort in the knowledge that so many were praying alongside us, creating a sense of unity that was palpable. The more we prayed, the more we felt an overwhelming presence of comfort and support from a higher power.
Miraculous Signs of Healing
Over time, we began to see small yet significant signs that filled our hearts with optimism. Despite enduring a major surgery, our son showed remarkable strength, keeping a positive mind and a heart full of love for God and staying full of faith at this particular time in his life. When times would get hard for him, I always tried to be there for him, and if I couldn't his grandmother or other family was.
After surgery one day I laid with Kyle and he informed me had a vision that God came to him, telling him he would be okay, not to worry or stress. As soon as he was done telling me about him speaking with God, the phone rang, and it was his doctor to tell me all about the pathology report. He went on to state that as far as they know they removed all the sixteen pound tumor along with sixty-five percent of his liver, a kidney, his adrenal gland, gallbladder and did a resection to his vena cava which is a vein that carries deoxygenated blood from the body to the heart. He said the margins were clear and the cancer was shielded and encapsulated. He said that the diagnosis was soft tissue Ewing Sarcoma, and it has never been recorded in history encapsulated like the tumor found inside Kyle. They even ran a second report with other pathologists' recommendations. Now remember back when Rev. Zant visited Kyle and asked God to Sheild him with the Armour of God but to encapsulate this tumor from all harm.
During one appointment, his pediatric oncologist shared an astonishing statistic: children who display resilient spirits and maintain their joy during treatment often have better health outcomes. We clung to this idea, and so Kyle pushed himself to do what he loved most.
A follow-up appt was in the future and we were being informed that Kyle should continue chemo to fight off anymore cancer in his blood.
Kyle spoke up and upon looking at the Doctor and said, "Do you believe in Miracles?" and the doctor stated he believed in science and then Kyle informed the doctor he believes in miracles and prayer, and he has decided against the Chemo after the first round put him in another life threating situation of appendicitis with no immunity. So, the doctor ordered routine scans and bloodwork that would detect any cells floating in his blood. Each positive scan and bloodwork further affirmed our belief in the power of prayer. Needless to say, all the oncologists were in total disbelief as well. The hospital wanted to study this tumor as they asked Kyle permission to do so because they never had come across this type of cancer encapsuled.
I began to understand that our faith and Kyle's resilience were intertwined. Each prayer released into the universe seemed to guide us closer to recovery.
The Moment We Had Been Waiting For
The moment we had all prayed for arrived, "Kyle is cancer free". The wave of relief washed over us each time with a smile of gratitude. In that instant, we knew that prayer and faith played crucial roles in this miraculous outcome.
Our friends and family shared in our joy. We had witnessed something incredible: the strength found in community and faith triumphing over fear. This was more than a personal victory; it was a testament to the collective faith that surrounded us.
Keeping the Faith Alive
Although we celebrated this remarkable victory keeping faith over fear, Kyle then understood the importance of faith going forward. This experience taught us to value life more fully and to remain connected to our spiritual roots. I promised Kyle a trip when he was in his darkest hours after his surgery. We all need a little push at times in our life, or simply something to look forward to. So, we decided to take him back to the most magical place on earth, Disney. A miraculous recovery and like Walt Disney once said, "When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable."
We had the best time and many memories to last a lifetime. Remember to do what you can in life and live it to its fullest protentional. I felt blessed to uphold my promise and show him that even after your darkest hours there is light at the end of the tunnel. His light was to remain here on earth because his time here on earth is not complete, God is using him for his glory here. He has a purpose just like we all do, we just have to find out what our purpose is.
Our journey of healing has blossomed into a mission to spread hope and share how prayer can make a difference. Kyle shares with others the testimony to prove that there is power in prayer.
A Journey of Faith and Healing
Looking back, I am profoundly grateful that my son is now cancer-free. Our experience demonstrated the incredible transformation that can arise from unwavering faith and collective prayer.
To anyone grappling with similar challenges, I encourage you to hold onto hope. Engage with your community, seek strength in prayer, and never underestimate the power of belief. Your faith can ignite resilience and open doors to miraculous outcomes.
This journey has made my son a stronger individual, as it has also reconfirmed to me to never doubt Gods plan. God has a plan for everyone, no one on earth gets out alive, but best believe there is a more complex universe and beyond the universe is a power that is very Devine. Let us continue to celebrate the miracles that manifest through faith and share uplifting stories of hope and healing. Thank you for joining us in this beautiful journey. We celebrate this year's Thanksgiving, but this year is a little bit different, we don't just celebrate it, we Rejoyce and live it. We don't take anything for granted we don't just celebrate one day but every day by Thanking God for answering our prayers.
I love this picture, Back to the Future, Kyle tells me he feels so much better than before and feels as if he had been renewed to embrace change and appreciate the difference it made in his life. Your future isn't set in stone and that you can make it whatever you want. You just have to want it bad enough, and if you do you will go after it, even if the power here is prayer.
I will say peace started to fill my heart, I spoke to God daily and I told myself to keep only positive vibes and only Invision good thoughts while keeping my faith strong and with prayer each day I felt closer to God and God spoke to me and told me Kyle would be okay. Kyle isn't just thankful but knows what his purpose is on Earth. He is living proof that God exists. Remember that God has a purpose for each and every one of us here on earth, weather we are here a short time, half the time, or till we pass of old age. We are promised eternal life if we choose to follow and accept him into our lives and if we deny him your life stops here. That isn't my words but Gods. You don't always have to see everything to believe.
Kyle, now cancer free, full of life and back to work at his job in hvac, a job he enjoys while learning daily. He works out at the gym and his main hobby is fishing. He will always be my sweet boy but now a man who has learned more about life in one year than most do in a lifetime. We are so very thrilled and happy for him, and he is looking forward to living life to the fullest each and every day. Thank you, God, for your blessings and this Thanksgiving and Christmas will mean way more than what comes from a store. Bless you all.
