I am very excited to share my newly revamped mudroom and connected half bath with you. As many of you know we had a set back after moving in with my son's medical condition. We have now lived in the new house for four months now and I haven't posted pictures of it yet. Well, now I will begin to do so! Time now to talk mudroom. Here is a before and after take.
I would love to hear of your insight on it. My last home didn't have a mudroom so everything got put any place and that drove me crazy. I always dreamed of a real mudroom. A place for the family to dump the shoes, coats, and hats to keep the rest of the house from becoming a mess is the best. I know I wanted neutral colors with that farmhouse feel.
Ta-da! Here it is. I knew I needed hooks and a shelf along with a place for shoes and baskets for whatever ends up in them. I am amazed how well the room transformed. This room is used multiple times a day by everyone. I wanted a place that always looked clean even if it isn't. I was striving to keep this small space bright and bring depth to the room while updating it and combining everything I needed to do in this space. Sometimes I over think things but that is just me making sure the outcome will be a good one.
The picture is facing from the kitchen side and the back door. I decided to keep the door and paint it black along with black door handles. The back door is also visible from the garage. I had my husband install a new bright light in this area to brighten it up as it is a smaller space. I love the classic contrast the black makes with our white and grey paint.
Oh the joy of organization and having a place for all things!
So this wraps up the mudroom and I am so happy with it.
Now for the bathroom.
After many hours working on this half bathroom especially the wallpaper, (the struggle was real), I can finally say it is done. The moment has come to reveal the results, and others who have seen it in person love it. We decided to DIY this house with some things on a budget. We changed out the fixtures along with a new toilet. Again I am for making small spaces brighter, provide depth and bring a clean look to the room. I decided to incorporate the same colors to this room as it is adjacent to the mudroom. This room took me a while to complete as I had to prime the walls and moldings before painting due to existing paint was enamel. I know I wanted to wallpaper the wall behind the sink and that was the hardest part but was very rewarding when it was complete. Patience is a virtue in the DIY game. The wallpaper was self stick adhesive and was a very big task matching up the print which took time and effort on my part. We added a new door handle and also a new recessed toilet paper holder for this smaller bathroom and ta-da it was complete. And that's a wrap on the half bathroom refresh! There is an unmatched satisfaction in walking into a space you've transformed with your own two hands.
